Lady Pierce Bed
Every now and then I have to take time to step back and make something for one of my own dollhouses. The Pierce is my darling house.....she was the first kit that I bought and the second house I built. She's always been my favorite, yet I've sadly neglected her furnishings. She's been patient and undemanding, but I know that she's been just a bit jealous of the other houses getting new and updated furnishings while she's made do with some of the very first miniatures I bought.
So my darling Pierce received some new furniture recently, including a fabulous Bespaq bedroom suite. I was intending to dress the bed in emerald green satin, but she had different ideas about that. I'm glad that I listened to her because here's what we came up with.
The bedspread is ivory silk, batted and then covered with hand embroidered silk roses and rose buds. The silk ribbons are all hand dyed. The lace is appliquéd by hand in layers and turned on the corners to fit the mattress. The insets on the headboard and footboard are also of ivory silk embroidered with silk ribbon roses and rose buds. As long as I was dressing the bed, I dressed the vanity stool to match.
